Academic Success workshops and courses.

The Academic Success Program helps students adjust to the rigors of law school and supports students should they encounter academic difficulty. The faculty at Stetson Law is committed to assisting students in their development of academic skills.

During students’ first semester, workshops are offered to teach skills for success, including critical reading and thinking, rule synthesis, outlining, legal analysis and exam preparation.

In subsequent semesters, the program director meets with students to review case briefs, outlines, and responses to practice exam questions. The program also offers courses for second semester and upper-level students on advanced critical thinking skills.

Program Director Jeff Minneti maintains an open-door policy, inviting students to contact him to discuss any question regarding class preparation, exam preparation, or exam performance. For more information, please e-mail him at minneti@law.stetson.edu or visit his office.

Beyond providing a strong foundation in legal doctrine, Stetson’s academic curriculum allows students to distinguish themselves through clinical programs, skills courses, and concentration and dual-degree programs for practice in specialized areas of law.

Stetson has established itself as a national leader in the areas of advocacy, elder law, higher education law and policy, and international law through its Centers for Excellence. The centers advance legal developments in these subject areas through conferences, workshops, research projects and scholarship.
